The Quakers published the book ‘Towards a Quaker view of sex’ in 1963. It was the first religious publication to guide towards a tolerant and understanding view of homosexuality. It was pioneering in promoting a non-judgmental attitude towards not just homosexuality but other sexually related matters such as sex outside marriage.
