Lesbian Health
While gay men's health has received some attention because of HIV/AIDS, in comparison, lesbian health has been more or less ignored by the medical profession and health service providers. In the 1990s a group of lesbians in Birmingham set up LesBeWell to raise awareness of health issues amongst lesbians. A study undertaken then was recently analysed and published in 2007. It showed that lesbians have poorer health and higher risk factors than heterosexual women.
